The Problem

Finding parking in America is a significant challenge, leading to wasted time, stress, and frustration. Drivers often circle streets and parking lots for extended periods, contributing to congestion and even road rage. The uncertainty of parking availability causes delays, making people late for appointments and events. Safety concerns and high costs add to the complexity, creating a pervasive issue that affects daily life and urban mobility.

The Solution

Carcloud revolutionizes parking by utilizing advanced technologies to offer AI-powered recommendations, dynamic pricing, and real-time availability predictions. With integrated navigation and AR (augmented reality) guidance, users can effortlessly find and reserve parking spaces. Secure transactions through blockchain, robust safety features, and eco-friendly options enhance trust and sustainability. Community features, flexible payment options, and in-app support ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience, addressing all parking dilemmas comprehensively.

Understanding, Exploring, Materializing.

I followed the Design Thinking framework to simplify an intricate problem space full of complex variables.

HMW create a seamless and stress-free parking experience that saves time, reduces frustration, and enhances safety for drivers in urban environments?lp people both find parking in a convenient and safe way,

1. EMPATHIZE

> User research

People get stressed out and waste time searching for parking.

Hypothesis:

The parking dilemma adds to overall poor health.
Time spent looking for parking is probably enormous per the average American per year.
The amount of money people spend looking for parking is probably significant on average.

> Competitor audit

Current parking finding solutions are too niche, needing accounts with different parking vendors, and only offering solutions in some places.

Data-Based Theory:

A solution to parking wherever the user needs it would comprehensively and competitively fill a market niche.

> User interviews

I speak to eight people about their parking experiences to gain insight into the parking dilemma.

Focus of discussions:

No personalization/individualized focus from medical advice or current solutions: everything's generic.
Stress is a significant factor in overall wellbeing.
Trial-and-error health management is frustrating and is time consuming.

2. DEFINE

Categorizing key points revealed important insights in user data patterns.

Pain Points:

Tracking health is complex and time-consuming.
User experience is fragmented across many platforms.
Data results are often inaccurate.

User scenarios cascade as real user data leads to understanding of pain points.

Problem Statement:

People who suffer from autoimmune gut health conditions face complex health patterns that can become aggravated from dietary uncertainty and environmental stressors, potentially causing adverse physical and mental wellbeing if not monitored.

3. IDEATE

> Brainstorming, low-fidelity wireframes

Design exploration: drawing is thinking.

Design Progress:

A mobile app would be a good solution for potential user needs.
A unique mobile app design would fill the market niche of a comprehensive and personalized gut health management solution.

Comprehensive Design Feedback:

I should incorporate Large Language Models (LLMs) for AI-based functionality and modernization.
I need to keep iterating for inclusivity (font size, visual disability color considerations, etc.).
I should develop stronger and more coherent information architecture.

5. TEST

> User feedback, lessons learned

I submit the app design to potential users, peers, and mentors, gaining insight into how to improve the project.

Key learning #1

Conduct more diverse user research: My interviewees were 3 men and a woman, and I realize how much more I could have learned by diversifying my user base.

Key learning #2

Implement rapid prototyping and iterative testing earlier: This project consumed a significant amount of time, but it seems I could have saved a lot of time by adopting a more aggressive approach to testing from the start, in order to skip time spent on design solutions that ended up no working out in the end.

Key learning #3

Develop a more cohesive and interactive prototype with streamlined widgets and microinteractions, which I could do A/B testing on to see if small interactions help user relax and provide a more engaging and gamified experience.
